Research Associate

About the role Woodstock is looking at a research associate to join its Investments and Research team. As a member of the team, you will learn about blockchain, venture capital, meet inspiring entrepreneurs, and get exposure to emerging technologies and products.

What you'll do

  • Stay updated with industry news plus grants, hackathons, and accelerator programs to find early-stage companies as per the fund’s thesis and build a network of sources. Develop a keen point of view on investment in various categories and companies. Work on well-rounded and informed theses.
  • Connect with prospective investments and entrepreneurs on calls. Carry out extensive due diligence of their product, business plan, go-to market strategy, token economics, team, competitive position, and the like.
  • Take up complete ownership of the deal – from introduction, due-diligence, financial modeling, investment notes, investment committee presentations to closing. Act as the primary point of contact for portfolio company management. Provide ongoing support to portfolio companies.
  • Engage in building financial models and token models, write and publish research articles to build thought leadership in the space.

Requirements

  • At least 1-2 years of experience working in a blockchain, traditional finance, venture capital, or product management role.
  • Genuine interest and belief in blockchain and digital assets’ value propositions and deeply optimistic about the future of Web 3.0.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English. Analytical and organized mind with remarkable attention to detail.
  • In-depth knowledge of performing financial, valuation, and comprehensive quantitative analysis.

Added advantage

  • Previous experience in Web 3.0 role and in-depth understanding of the space.

Research Associate (Tech)

About the role Woodstock is looking at a research associate to join its Investments and Research team. As a member of the team, you will learn about blockchain, work with founders on emerging technologies, manage nodes, and perform on-chain data analytics for various blockchains.

What you'll do

  • Experience in one scripting language (Python, Ruby) and one object-oriented programming language (C++, Java)
  • Versatility when encountered with new programming languages

Security Engineer

About the role The primary responsibility of this role is for Woodstock Fund’s security-related services.

Key responsibilities for this role include

  • Proactively monitor/review smart contracts of portfolio companies and corresponding important third-party partnerships for vulnerabilities
  • Conduct security reviews for portfolio companies
  • Work directly with the external blockchain developers to audit their code and secure their products including smart contracts, protocols and dapp.
  • Conduct security research and publish findings in technical blog posts / conferences.
  • Improve our processes and offering and strive for the satisfaction of our clients
  • Contribute to our internal security tools and create new ones that help improve the security services by following good engineering practices.
  • If you are excited about hacking, threat modeling, scanning, auditing, designing, and enhancing the security of smart contracts across the board then you will be a great fit in this role.

While you work with investee companies, we will also provide you with great opportunities to get involved with research and development efforts to help us raise the standards of blockchain security.

Requirements

  • Passion for Cryptocurrency/Defi/Blockchain
  • 2+ years of experience with solidity, the EVM and blockchain technology
  • Experience in security auditing of smart contracts, formal verification of smart contracts or penetration testing
  • Bachelors or above in Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Security or a related field
  • Experienced in threat and vulnerability management, penetration testing and SecOps (intrusion detection, security logging, malware analysis, and forensics)
  • Experience developing tooling in Solidity, Vyper, Javascript and Python

Additional advantageous skills

  • Working knowledge of threat analysis, APT or threat response
  • Professional experience as SWE, or Security Engineer
  • Strong Math background

Tech Developer

About the role The primary responsibility of this role is to engage with Woodstock’s portfolio companies from a technology perspective.

The key tasks associated with this role include -

  • Building and maintaining a development report/dashboard for tracking developer growth across major ecosystems
  • Tracking code and product progress of all portfolio companies
  • Helping teams on development tasks
  • Sharing insights for improvement
  • Contributing to our internal tools and create new ones
  • Following all partnerships formed and integrations made by portfolio companies

We are looking to hire someone with a full-stack development skill set, and expect the candidates to have the ability to write robust code, analyse data, present insights, build relationships, and provide value end-to-end. The role will help the individual build great connections, work on various new technologies, and understand the blockchain development space.

Requirements

  • Passion for blockchain tech and development
  • Proficiency in at least one frontend and one backend language, besides basic understanding of C, C++, Java, Python, and JavaScript
  • Bachelors or above in Computer Science/Information Technology or a related field
  • Prior experience in independent development
  • Familiarity with API integrations, GitHub, and CICD pipeline

Additional advantageous skills

  • Professional experience as SDE
  • Strong CS background
